New German heavylift regulations from July
From today, 1 July 2025, new tolerance rules will apply to undershooting approved total weights in the heavy haul and oversized transport sector.
The national ministry for digital matters and transport affairs is introducing the revised regulations thanks also to input from Germany’s national association for heavylift transports and craning tasks (Bundesfachgruppe für Schwertransport und Kranarbeiten BSK).
For transports up to 68 t, a weight underrun of up to 20% is permitted. For loads over 130 t, only 5% is allowed. A linear calculation applies between these values, based on a formula included in the regulation.
