New Irish train service to start in autumn

XPO intends to introduce a new rail freight service in Ireland in Q4/2020. The train will connect Ballina and the port in Waterford.

The principal customer on this link will Ballina Beverages. XPO plans to shift this company's deliveries of soft drinks from truck to rail to the port in Waterford, from where the cargo is transported by ship to Rotterdam and onwards to world-wide destinations.

Together with the Irish carrier Iarnod Eireann, XPO recently carried out a successful first trial run. In addition to the anchor customer, XPO intends to offer its new transport option to other customers. (ben)
