New link from Tec Plata to Brazil and Asia

Philippines-based International Container Terminal Services Inc's (ICTSI) subsidiary in Argentina is working with a port administrative entity to launch a new feeder service to connect the re-opened Port of Santa Fe to Brazil and Asia.

Through its partnership with the Santa Fe port administrative entity, Tec Plata - the Argentine site of ICTSI – is setting up a bi-weekly feeder service. 500 teu barges will be deployed.

With this service, export cargo from the container and general cargo terminal at the Port of Santa Fe will be transported by barge to TecPlata from where it will connect to Log-in's existing regional shipping network in Brazil. Cargo destined for Asia will then be transhipped from the Port of Santos, São Paulo, through the service operated by Evergreen.

"The opportunity to reactivate the Port of Santa Fe is very important because we are going to start this new logistics circuit that will connect the export cargo of the province with Brazil through a transfer in Tec Plata," commented Tec Plata CEO Bruno Porchietto. ICTSI has invested approximately USD 450 million in this project on the basis of a 30-year concession. (cd)
