New military transport aircraft
Boeing (49%) and Embraer (51%) have announced the joint venture Boeing Embraer – Defence to develop new markets for the C-390 millennium multi-mission airlift and air mobility aircraft that can perform cargo transport (seven 463L pallets) and airdrop and humanitarian missions.
It received its civil certification from the Brazilian regulator in 2018 and is now in full production. Brazil's air force took delivery of the first aircraft in September.
Meanwhile, the Russian company Aviastar has built the second generation of the IL-76MD-90A aircraft (photo) and released it for flight tests. The new version has more powerful engines and a stronger chassis, which increases load capacity and range.
At the same time, the aircraft factory continues the development of the light carrier IL-112V (5 t). It is destined to replace the AN-26 as from 2023. (ah)
