New transport mode for agriculture products
Since the opening of the China-Laos Railway on 3 December 2021, cross-border transportation has been on the increase. The railway has carried 4.03 million t of goods during the last six months. The line also provides a new mode of transport for agriculture products between China and Thailand.
When Thai agriculture products are exported to China via the line, transportation costs are reduced by nearly one-half compared to the traditional way, the government in Kunming said.
The China-Laos Railway is 1,035 km long and includes a 422 km section through Laos, running from Kunming, in southwest China's Yunnan Province, to the Laotian capital of Vientiane. Its network now covers Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia, Cambodia, Singapore, and other countries. (ben)
