(No) more new services in the Caribbean

For the first time in its history, Caribbean Airlines used a B737-800 passenger aircraft for a cargo only service, moving essential supplies from Guyana to Cuba.

The flight was part of the charter service the airline headquartered in Trinidad and Tobago launched recently. Caribbean Airlines Cargo offers these services to regional destinations like Barbados, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and Suriname, while its B767F operates weekly out of Miami.

Carriers from Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent are no longer allowed to establish new services to the USA, as the Federal Aviation Administration has assigned the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States a Category 2 rating, assessing that they do not comply with ICAO safety standards.
