Norfolk Southern to expand US terminal capacity
Kalmar, part of Cargotec, has signed a deal to supply the US railway company Norfolk Southern with four Kalmar Smart Power rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) equipped with a suite of process automation solutions. Delivery should be completed by the end of 2019.
The RTGs will be used to extend capacity at the company's intermodal terminals in Landers in Chicago IL, and Rossville in Memphis TN. Each terminal will get two RTGs. The cranes, with a span of approximately 25 m, will be equipped with Kalmar's electro-mechanical anti-sway system and a rotating Bromma spreader. (ben)
