October 2025 airfreight market shows growth


In October 2025 the International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported a notable increase in global air cargo demand, with total volumes rising by 4.1% year-on-year, reaching a new monthly record for volumes. Demand for international operations surged by 4.8%, while overall capacity grew by 5.1%. Amidst varied performances across regions, the Asia-Pacific and African markets stood out with significant growth rates of 8.3% and 16.6%, respectively. In contrast, North America and Latin America experienced declines of 2.7% each, highlighting contrasting trends across the global landscape.

Key operating environment indicators revealed a 5.3% year-on-year growth in global goods trade and a 3.7% rise in industrial production, suggesting a robust market backdrop. Despite rising jet fuel prices, global manufacturing sentiment improved, signalling cautious optimism among businesses. Within specific trade lanes, Europe-Asia achieved remarkable growth with an 11.7% increase, while North America-Asia continued its contraction. Overall, the data reinforces the resilience of the airfreight sector, benefiting from its adaptability to evolving market challenges.
