ONE for Oakland

It is a comeback. Singapore-headquartered Ocean Network Express (ONE) will relaunch its weekly service to Oakland which it discontinued in 2019.

The carrier will revive its PS5 service back to Oakland on 13 November, connecting the US West Coast with ports in Tokyo and China. The updated sailings follow this rotation: Shanghai, Ningbo, Los Angeles, Oakland, Tokyo and Shanghai.

The port said that the resumption of the weekly route aids American meat exporters facing soaring demand in Japan. It should also help Chinese manufacturers exporting from the ports of Shanghai and Ningbo.

The PS5 is the latest in a series of Asia service acquisitions at the port in 2021 that include CMA-CGM’s Golden Gate Bridge service, Wan Hai’s AA5 service, Matson’s CCX service and MSC’s Sentosa service. (sh)
