ONE signs Hamburg shore power deal in Munich
Ocean Network Express (ONE) and the Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) have signed an agreement to use shore power in Hamburg’s container terminals. The contract was concluded during the Transport Logistic trade fair in Munich.
ONE will be the first carrier to use shore power at the CTB and CTA terminals, which are currently being equipped. Hamburg already supplies shore power at its CTH and CTT facilities, aiming for full coverage by the end of 2025.
ONE managing director Takahiro Kikuchi said the move is part of efforts to reduce scope 1 emissions and comply with upcoming ‘FuelEU’ regulations. HPA’s CCO Friedrich Stuhrmann welcomed ONE’s role in reducing port emissions, while city senator Dr Melanie Leonhard said the partnership proves that port operations and climate action can go hand in hand.
