P&O adds fifth Dover–Calais vessel

Growing demand from British and European customers has prompted P&O Ferries to return the ‘Pride of Burgundy’ to its Dover–Calais route. The vessel, with its first sailing in over a year, will now be the line’s fifth ship serving the route.

The 28,000 t ‘Pride of Burgundy’, which can carry 120 lorries, will return in freight-only mode, make two return journeys a day and “expand options for those requiring the rapid and reliable transport of goods between pivotal markets,” according to P&O Ferries managing director Peter Hebblethwaite. “I’m delighted to see our Dover–Calais fleet restored to its pre-pandemic strength of five,” he added.

The return follows the introduction of a second lo-lo ship between Zeebrugge and Hull by P&O Ferries, a European logistics and ferry group that is a part of DP World. (cd)
