Pall-Ex renews last-mile fleet

Pall-Ex, a major British player in palletised freight distribution, is seeking to increase its market share by adding new urban delivery vehicles to its fleet.

The new vehicles, including three Isuzu N75 Curtainside 7.5 t trucks, with tuckaway tail lifts, are deployed for deliveries to residential locations, where access is often restricted.

The Isuzu trucks were the latest vehicles to be delivered to Pall-Ex’s owned operations, Cranleigh Distribution Services, Surrey, and Intercounty Distribution, Cornwall, during May.

Since March 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, e-commerce, a driver of this market, has grown at a rate not many could have predicted. According to the Association of Pallet Networks (APN), which represents the UK's eight pallet networks, April 2020 saw almost 36% of all pallets transported within pallet networks destined for residential addresses. This was a 157% increase on the volumes seen during Q1/2020. (sh)
