Penang: Silicone Valley of the East?
Röhlig Logistics has opened a new sales office in Penang, Malaysia, a region dubbed the ‘Silicone Valley of the East’.
Penang is a region with economic potential and currently a major player in the electronics manufacturing sector. It has attracted much foreign investment in the tech manufacturing industry. With an international airport and a feeder seaport, Penang is well-connected to global trade.
Röhlig, a German logistics provider, hopes to complement its sea and air freight network with this new office. Dickson Ooi, general manager at Röhlig Malaysia: “Having already established a customer base in the area, we look forward to strengthening our services for the Röhlig network and our local clients.”
Commercial management and procurement specialist Samantha Saw has been appointed as branch manager to head the Penang office. (mk)
