Perhaps the perfect Christmas gift?

Don't miss it: Tomorrow, 22 November 2022, at 14:30 h local time, the Turkish Airports Authority DHMI will auction a cargo aircraft at its headquarters in Ankara. The minimum bid is TRY 400,000 (equivalent to EUR 20,700 EUR - as of Friday afternoon, 18 November 2022).

The Il-76TD with the registration number 4L-SKN (built in 1984), a 46.6 m long, 50.5 m wide and 92 t heavy aircraft, has been parked at the airport Erzurum, a city in Eastern Anatolia, for eleven years. It had landed there to deliver tents from Georgia after the earthquake in the province of Van on 23 October 2011.

But after landing, it crashed into the wing of a Kyrgyz cargo plane of the same type, which slashed its cockpit. Subsequently, the damaged freighter was parked at a stand at the airport where it was to be repaired.

However, according to the Anadolu Ajansı news agency, this never happened due to "insurance-related problems" of its owner Sky Georgia Airlines. (ah)
