PHL partners with Remora
Pacific harbor line (Phl), a subsidiary of Anacostia rail holdings, has partnered with Michigan-based climate tech startup Remora to develop mobile carbon capture for freight rail. Over the past 16 years, PHL has steadily upgraded its fleet from Tier 2 to Tier 3+ locomotives, switched to renewable diesel, and tested zero-emission battery-electric models. The company plans to upgrade its entire Tier 3 fleet to Tier 4 standard.
"For PHL and Anacostia, carbon capture adds yet another option in our efforts to slash emissions," said Peter A. Gilbertson, CEO of Anacostia Rail Holdings. And he added: "Remora’s technology elevates connected locomotives to EPA Tier 4 standards and also enables the reuse of carbon in other commercial applications." (js)
