Pil names its next dual-fuel vessel in Singapore

Pacific International Lines (Pil) has celebrated the naming of its 8,200 teu LNG dual-fuel vessel 'Kota Ocean' at Singapore’s PSA Terminal. The event, held during Singapore’s SG60 celebrations, highlights Pil’s commitment to greener shipping.

Named by Temasek Trust chair Ho Ching, the 'Kota Ocean' is the sixth LNG dual-fuel vessel in Pil’s fleet and the second of its four O-class ships. The vessel will serve the Southwest Africa service, linking Asia and West Africa.

CEO Lars Kastrup said the ship marks a key milestone in Pil’s fleet renewal. With 18 vessels ordered, Pil is aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050. The newbuilds feature bio-methane capability, exhaust recycling, hydrodynamic design and digital systems for efficient operations. (ah)
