PIL welcomes its first 8,200 teu LNG dual-fuel vessel

Singapore-based Pacific International Lines (PIL) has named "Kota Oasis", the first of four 8,200 teu LNG dual-fuel containerships from its new "O" Class series, at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding in China.

The vessel is part of PIL’s long-term strategy to optimise network deployment and enhance fleet sustainability. In addition to LNG, the newbuilds are capable of using greener bio-methane fuels and are equipped with Win-GD XDF engines with iCER technology to reduce methane emissions. The ships are also prepared for ammonia as a future fuel.

CEO Lars Kastrup said "Kota Oasis" marks a major step towards achieving PIL’s 2050 net-zero emissions goal. With this vessel, PIL’s LNG-powered fleet grows to five ships, with 13 more LNG dual-fuel vessels on order. (ah)
