Planning next steps after latest intermodal launch

Italy-based Transmec is already planning ahead following the successful launch of its latest intermodal service. Running between Transmec’s privately-owned terminal at Oradea, Romania, and Lodz in central Poland, the 48-hour service is run in partnership with P&O.

Currently offering two departures each way per week, a third is set to be introduced by mid-2020, according to Transmec. The Oradea hub is owned by Transmec and P&O, who already operate joint connections between Oradea and Zeebrugge in Belgium and Piacenza Italy, with Transmec also running its own service between northern Italy and Zeebrugge.

Proposals to introduce a joint service between Oradea and Constanta on Romania’s Black Sea coast are now being considered. (ben)
