Polb promotes head of engineering
Suzanne Plezia has been promoted to managing director of engineering services at the port of Long Beach, succeeding Sean Gamette, who is retiring. Plezia joined the port in 1996 and has served as a senior director and chief harbor engineer since 2017.
She'll now oversee the port’s USD 3.2 billion, ten-year capital programme, which includes the pier B rail facility, infrastructure for zero-emissions operations and the proposed pier wind offshore turbine hub.
Plezia heads a bureau of 300 staff in six divisions. Her past roles span programme management, construction, and design, including major projects such as the 'Long Beach International Gateway Bridge' and redevelopment of the pier G terminal.
She'll assume her new role with Gamette’s departure today, 11 June. (ah)
