Port Everglades signs lease with MSC terminal

Port Everglades has signed a ten-year lease and operating agreement with Everglades Company Terminal (ECT), a subsidiary of MSC, securing its presence on a 39-acre site in the Southport cargo area of Fort Lauderdale through to 2034, with options to extend by ten more years.

The agreement, approved by the Broward County commission, replaces the previous lease held since 2004 and supports continuity in Port Everglades Terminal.

The deal is expected to generate over USD 161 million in business revenues annually, support 425 direct jobs and contribute USD 10.5 million in taxes in its first year. It also transfers key infrastructure assets, including shore power-ready reefer racks and an inspection dock, to the port. (ah)
