Port Klang going strong again

Port Klang, Malaysia's major sea port, handled almost 12.7 million teu from January to November 2021. Throughput is forecast to surpass the result of 2020, which amounted to 13.3 million teu.

The port authority expects that by the end of December volumes handled will reach 13.8 million teu in 2021. This will also be above the figures of 2019, the "pre-pandemic" year.

The port authority of Singapore recently completed the first phase of its new gateway Tuas Port and announced that two of its berths will start operations by the turn of the year. By several measures, the port is aiming at an annual capacity of 20 million teu. (sh)
