Port of Esbjerg enhancing crane capacities

The Danish port of Esbjerg has seen the number of crane tasks growing; they have increased by approximately 66% in four years. Thus the port is gearing up for future business by ordering the world’s largest mobile harbour crane, the Liebherr LHM 800. The new unit, due for delivery in August, has a lifting capacity of 308 t, is 48 m high and its boom is 66 m long.

Port CEO Dennis Jul Pedersen pointed out that “we’ve registered strong growth in the high and heavy cargo segment, making new demands on our crane capacities.”

The port of Esbjerg has been a player in maritime trade between Denmark and the world since 1874. Today it is an international multimodal transport centre and an important Scandinavian gateway, where more than 200 companies are based with a staff of approximately 10,000 people. (kd)
