Port of Gothenburg finds a sister in China

Last week, a delegation of 20 people from Shenzhen (China) came to visit Gothenburg, Scandinavia’s largest port. During this visit, a sister port agreement was signed. The aim is to strengthen cooperation between both ports on issues such as sustainable transport, volume growth, and new technology.

Handling 30 million teu per year, Shenzhen, the world’s fourth-largest port, plays a crucial role in southern China and the surrounding region.

Elvir Dzanic, CEO of Gothenburg Port Authority: “I am convinced that many of the long-term sustainability projects we have been working on in Gothenburg can also be implemented in a Chinese context. There is great potential to develop trade exchange from both growth and sustainability perspectives." (lh)
