"Project Sunrise": Longest range - less cargo

The first non-stop commercial airline flight from New York (USA) to Sydney (Australia) landed on Sunday, 20 October 2019, after 19 h 16 min in the air. A total of only 49 passengers and crew (including four pilots) were on the 16,200 km "Dreamliner" flight, supporting a series of experiments to assess health and well-being on board.

The data are being used to promote "Project Sunrise", Qantas' goal to operate regular, non-stop flights from Australia's east coast (Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney) to Western Europe and New York. Ferried from Seattle (USA), the brand new B787-9 crossed the Pacific Ocean with the maximum amount of fuel (101 t) and a minimum of luggage and catering.

Qantas Freight cites 17.9 t being the maximum bellyhold cargo weight of this aircraft, "based on full passenger loads and subject to weather conditions". (ah)
