Promoting gender equality in the logistics sector

Global supply chain operator and logistics provider Geodis has reported on the progress of its mentor programmes. The company aims to have 25% of its leadership roles filled by women by 2023. Since 2017, their share has grown from 13% to 18%.

The pilot programme that was established in the Americas region in 2018 is gaining participants in the USA and will expand into Latin America next month. In the Asia Pacific region, the Australia/New Zealand team launched its initiative in September 2020.

Group HR director Mario Ceccon: “The industry’s image is one of traditional male leadership, lack of upward mobility for women and unattractive to aspiring young females. […] Gender diversity is not only a social necessity but also a corporate responsibility and a sound business policy.”
