Propulsion milestone for UAE cargo drone
At the Paris Air Show 2025, Jetoptera announced the successful first engine to test (fett) for the FTC-250, a 250 kW turbocompressor that will power the J-500 unmanned VTOL cargo aircraft. Developed with Eanan Al Samma for the UAE market, the J-500 uses Jetoptera’s 'Fluidic Propulsive System' (FPS) promising low noise, high speed and VTOL capability.
The 'fett' test took place in Zaandam (Netherlands) and confirmed smooth startup and stable turbofan mode operation. Next steps include performance mapping and integration with the airframe. The modular system supports turbojet, turbofan and 'FPS' configurations. Jetoptera thanked Van Der Lee Turbo Systems and Parametric Solutions for rapid development support. (ah)
