Rail service connects Hamm, DGT
In the Ruhr region of Germany, a new rail link now connects the MTH Hamm terminal with the Duisburg Gateway Terminal (DGT).
The service currently runs twice weekly, with the option of expanding to three times a week. It provides access to the sea ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp via rail and inland waterway.
Designed for combined transport, the service includes first and last-mile options and enables the movement of containers with a gross weight of up to 34 t. According to Duisport this rail solution offers a sustainable alternative to road transport, especially on congested motorways. The operator highlights its potential to relieve pressure on road networks while supporting greener logistics. (js)
