Rail transports Swiss steel to Italy
DB Cargo Switzerland has launched a new service. The rail enterprise recently started transporting steel from Steeltec in Emmenbrücke, Lucerne (Switzerland), to northern Italy. The logistics project was developed in cooperation with DB Cargo’s full-load solutions unit (FLS) and DB Cargo Italia.
The steel products manufactured in Emmenbrücke are transported by rail to Chiasso (Switzerland) and then to Lecco (Italy), from where they are distributed to customers.
With three round-trips a week, DB Cargo Switzerland is strengthening its site in Bellinzona (Switzerland), increasing capacity utilisation and enabling flexible shift planning, according to the freight railway company. Steeltec is part of the Swiss Steel Group. (ben)
