Railfreight boost for Northampton
Segro has completed the 35-acre rail freight interchange at Segro logistics park Northampton, enabling freight trains to access the site before regular services begin later this year. Operated by Maritime Transport, the terminal connects to the West Coast Main Line and aims to shift freight transport from road to rail, reducing congestion and emissions.
This milestone is part of Segro’s £200 million investment in local infrastructure, which also includes 5 million sqft of warehousing and logistics space. With the investment Segro aims to create around 7,500 jobs and deliver environmental benefits through green spaces and biodiversity initiatives. (js)
