Ready for return of air cargo

Qatar Airways' resumption of four-weekly Atlanta (ATL) flights today, 1 June 2021, marks the full return of the airline’s pre-pandemic US network increasing its gateways to 12, two more than it operated before Covid-19. The airline will also be increasing frequencies to Boston, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle.

At ATL, Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) has opened the first new cargo handling centre in over 30 years. WFS won the airport’s tender for a 20-year lease to operate the new 9,300 sqm Cargo Building C, which is a key part of the airport's master plan to accommodate the future aviation needs of the region.

Prior to the pandemic, ATL was the world’s busiest international airport and a major air cargo hub handling over 675,000 t of freight per year. (ah)
