Record cargo volumes for South Central Railway

India’s South Central Railway’s freight performance continues its upward trend. As of 8 March 2023, SCR scaled a new peak by achieving cumulative freight loading of 122.628 t. The current year’s volumes are 12% above the same period last year.

According to SCR, the network has been proactively taking steps to meet the needs of the customers through both tariff and non-tariff measures in 2023.

The freight handling terminals are also being given special focus for facilitating easy and faster freight loading and major goods sheds infrastructure is being upgraded. All of these measures have contributed the best-ever freight loading volumes, SCR said. (ben)
