Reducing carbon footprint by 4,812 t

Spanish provider Transfesa Logistics has helped Volkswagen Navarra to achieve an historical record for the distribution of cars by rail. In 2020, the railways surpassed the roads as a mode of transport for the first time, conveying 56% of the shipments.

In total, Transfesa Logistics transported 110,116 vehicles on 14 routes in 2020, accounting for more than 80% of all railway operations carried out last year. In Spain, the destinations were Barcelona, Santander, Tarragona and Zuera (Zaragoza) while international shipments went to Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

By train, these trips emitted 1,046 t of CO2, by truck, this figure would have been 5,858 t. So 4,812 t of CO2 were saved last year. (ben)
