Rickmers to manage Masterbulk fleet

Rickmers Shipmanagement (Singapore) was recently selected as Masterbulk’s new primary third party ship manager. The company, a member of the Rickmers Group, will take over management of 16 open hatch gantry crane bulk carriers between May and August 2015.

Rickmers Shipmanagement recently announced its intention to step up its bulk carrier management business and had already added seven supramax bulk carriers before landing the Masterbulk contract. Masterbulk stated that Rickmers’ track record and commitment to quality service, crew training, and vessel maintenance had been the decisive factor for its appointment as ship manager. Masterbulk, which was established in Singapore in July 1995, owns a fleet of open hatch gantry crane vessels for handling unitised cargoes. Specialising particularly in the forestry product segment, the ships also handle items such as project cargo, grains, fertilisers, petcoke, iron ore, containers, windmill blades, railcars and yachts.

The Rickmers group, headquartered in Hamburg (Germany) and Singapore, is a global service provider for the shipping industry, shipowners and shipping lines. It has over 20 offices in eleven countries, more than 50 agents worldwide, some 2,330 employees and about 130 ships. The group's business activities are grouped into three segments: maritime assets, maritime services and Rickmers-Linie.
