Rijeka gains significance as European gateway

A new direct cargo rail service has been launched with the creation of the first regular train connection between the Adriatic Gate Container Terminal (AGCT) in Rijeka, Croatia, and Paskov in Czechia.

The Maersk rail service runs up to two times per week. It is operated by CD Cargo Adria, a subsidiary of the Czech freight operator CD Cargo.

Currently, there are multiple regular weekly block trains between Rijeka, Serbia, Bosnia and Hungary with extensions for Slovakia. The terminal operator AGCT welcomes the addition of the new direct rail services to Czechia, which also confirms the terminal’s growing significance as a gateway for Central Europe and Southeast Europe.
