Robots handle 55,000 units

DB Schenker has commissioned one of the largest automated e-commerce facilities for its retail customers in Spain, Portugal and France. Operations began at the 50,000 sqm warehouse in Guadalajara with 150 newly created workstations, more than 200 robots and an optimised packaging system.

The site is equipped with a goods-to-person picking system that handles around 55,000 units per day with autonomous mobile robots (AMR). The facility includes innovative pick-and-pack solutions for fast and flexible online order processing and efficient handling of returns.

An automated conveyor system ensures on-time handling and fast. To optimise parcel volumes and the utilisation of transport vehicles, packaging is precisely adapted to the size of the product to be shipped by a fully automated solution. This reduces CO2 emissions throughout the distribution process, the company says. (ben)
