Rolling highway hits record

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) had transported almost 158,000 trucks by rail on the rolling highway (rola) by the end of October 2021, already cracking the figures of the last two years. In 2019, around 151,000 trucks were transported on all rola connections, compared to around 147,000 in 2020.

The increases are due to a significant rise in traffic volumes on the Brenner axis, where 135,000 trucks had travelled by rail through Tyrol by the end of October. Since the beginning of the year, more than 20,000 t of CO2 have been saved.

In addition to the Brenner route, RCG also operates a route to Trento (Italy) and a rola connection between Wels (Austria) and Maribor (Slovenia) from the terminal in Wörgl (Austria). (ben)
