Russian locomotives to carry African bauxite
Russia-based Sinara has won an open tender for the manufacture and supply of a batch of series TGM8 Elephant diesel locomotives to CBK in Guinea. CBK, part of Rusal Group, is a specialist in the extraction and export of bauxites.
TGM8 will be used in the production chain of the West African asset of the Russian aluminium company. Within the framework of this project, STM will produce six locomotives, which must be handed over to before the end of this year. TGM8 is a four-axle diesel locomotive with 882 kW (1,200 hp) and hydraulic transmission and is designed to perform shunting operations on 1,435 mm gauge railway tracks. (ben)
