Saga Shipholding moving fleet to Bahamas flag

Saga Shipholding from Norway has begun transferring all 32 of its general cargo vessels to the Bahamas flag, marking a milestone for the Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA).

The move includes 30 ships managed by Anglo-Eastern and two from NYK Singapore, with the final three expected by June 2025. The shift adds 1.56% to the BMA’s gross tonnage and strengthens its position in the global flag market.

The BMA cited technical quality, regulatory compliance and responsive service as key drivers behind Saga’s decision. As Bahamas celebrates its 30th anniversary as a ship registry, this full-fleet migration underscores growing owner confidence in the flag’s commercial, safety and service performance. (ah)
