Sale and lease-back for MKB
Northrail has concluded a sale and lease-back agreement with Mindener Kreisbahnen (MKB) for two 'Vectron dual mode' locomotives.
The contract, effective from 1 August, provides MKB continued access to traction units while aiming to enhance financial flexibility. Northrail CEO Volker Simmering (pictured) said the model allows customers to secure liquidity and planning certainty while maintaining fleet modernisation.
Dominik Breitkreutz, managing director of MKB, called the transaction a strategic step in its fleet strategy, ensuring long-term operational security with modern hybrid locomotives. The locomotives combine electric and diesel operation, offering operators transports on both electrified and non-electrified lines. (js)
