Schneider banking on UK

The Basel-headquartered Schneider Group has acquired Global Freight Connections (GFC), which is based in Basildon, UK. GFC was founded in 2002 by Paul Marshall and is a long-standing partner of several Schneider affiliates in France and Switzerland. The price of the transaction was not disclosed.

GFC's portfolio covers overland transport in Europe, sea and air freight as well as express transport, logistics and e-commerce. Schneider says that, with Brexit, the customs services for UK (Basildon/Dover) have become "an important factor for our continental European branches."

Martin Isler, COO Road, commented on the “already very good contacts on different levels" and spoke of plans to "further develop and expand our services in England in a targeted manner.”

The Schneider Group is a medium-sized international transport company, founded in 1865 and employing more than 800 people in Europe, USA and Asia. (sh)
