Scottish rail terminal changes hands

Freightliner (part of G&W UK) has sold its Coatbridge rail terminal in Scotland to logistics giant John G Russell. The takeover will enhance logistics services with the integration of multimodal solutions, improved connectivity, and faster delivery times, the group said.

The acquisition will also create the new trading entity Russell Railroad and promote the shift towards railfreight, which will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The terminal is located on the Motherwell to Inverness main line situated between Edinburgh and Glasgow and directly adjacent to Russell’s existing Coatbridge operation. It has eight rail sidings with six rails under the cranes. (ben)
