Seaplane reaches milestone with Easa agreement

Norway’s Elfly Group has signed a pre-application contract (PAC) with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (Easa) to develop its all-electric 'Noemi' seaplane, marking a key step toward certification.

The zero-emissions amphibious aircraft is designed for regional air transport and can take off from land and water. With capacity for nine passengers or 1 t of cargo, 'Noemi' combines low operating costs with sustainability and Scandinavian design.

The PAC enables Elfly and Easa to jointly define flight conditions and test procedures ahead of the first full-scale flight in 2027.

With over 47 soft orders and interest from operators worldwide, the platform is designed to be propulsion-agnostic – supporting battery-electric, hybrid or even hydrogen in future. Entry into service is planned for 2030. (ah)
