Seatrade orders reefer newbuilds
Seatrade has ordered two 2,800 teu container vessels from Huanghai Shipyard in Shandong (China), with delivery scheduled from 2027 onwards.
Each ship will have around 1,000 reefer plugs and marks the largest vessel ever ordered by the company. The units will complement Seatrade’s existing ten 1,800 teu ships and support its FDD business model – fast, direct, dedicated. This approach aims to reduce delivery times and operational costs, whilst improving flexibility.
In addition to these firm orders, Seatrade has secured options for six more vessels of the same class, depending on market conditions and customer demand.
The company is also reviewing further expansion opportunities, including additional newbuildings, secondhand tonnage and strategic cooperation with customers and reefer-focused operators. (gy)
