Semiconductor shortages threaten output

The Dutch government’s emergency takeover of semiconductor maker Nexperia decision-making has triggered renewed uncertainty across the automotive sector. The move, citing governance and security concerns, was followed by China’s export restrictions on Nexperia’s operations, disrupting global supply chains and threatening chip shortages for automakers according to a press release by time-critical logistics provider Priority freight. Nexperia supplies components "used in everything" from vehicle safety to electric powertrain systems, meaning any interruption could stall production lines worldwide as the company reported.

"In times like these resilience depends on speed, flexibility and foresight," said Stuart Stobie, chief commercial officer at Priority freight. Stobie added that rapid, precise decisions responses can determine whether factories halt or maintain output. (js)
