Sensitive to tiny little car sensors

On 30 May 2022, CBP officers inspected a shipment of sensors arriving from Hong Kong. Based on intelligence gathering and experience, officers suspected that the sensors were counterfeit. Officers reached out to GM’s global brand protection investigator - global security, which confirmed within 24 hours that the sensors were indeed counterfeit.

The items were officially seized on Monday, 13 June 2022. The 300 sensors were addressed to a residence in Brooklyn Park.

“Our officers not only protect the integrity of the American economy through trademark enforcement, but they also secure manufacturing supply chains by preventing potentially dangerous products from being installed in your car” said LaFonda D. Sutton-Burke, director, field operations-Chicago field office. (cj)
