SF Airlines and ST Engineering open MRO facility
SF Airlines and ST Engineering’s Commercial Aerospace business have opened a new airframe MRO facility at Ezhou Huahu International Airport, China’s first dedicated cargo airport. The site, developed through their joint venture ST Engineering Aerospace (Hubei) Aviation Services, announced in February 2023, began operations last week with a Boeing 767-300F C-check for SF Airlines.
The first hangar is now in service, while a second is scheduled for completion in late 2027. Together, they will handle up to four widebody or eight narrowbody aircraft at once. Long-term plans foresee expansion to six hangars, supporting SF Airlines’ fleet as well as other regional cargo and passenger operators.
Located in Hubei’s fast-growing aviation hub, the greenfield facility is expected to create 700 jobs when fully operational and will integrate smart technologies to enhance efficiency. (ah)
