Shell opens EV test hub
Shell is constructing “Germany’s most powerful test centre for high-performance EV charging.”
The facility, located at the Shell technology centre in Hamburg, will support tests of megawatt charging systems (MCS) with up to 5 MW capacity. The centre is designed for heavy-duty and construction vehicles, as well as for electric units.
The site, set to begin operations late in 2025, will include twelve automated test benches, more than 50 stations and climate chambers.
Shell’s aim is to accelerate e-mobility innovation and infrastructure deployment, reinforcing its strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. (js)
