Shengle airport milestone reached
A successful calibration test flight at Hohhot Shengle International Airport marks the transition of Inner Mongolia’s first 4F-class airport into the final preparation phase ahead of its official opening. The landing of the verification aircraft confirms that the facility meets the civil aviation standards and can accommodate advanced commercial aircraft. Shengle International Airport is designed to serve as a regional aviation hub, a primary alternate airport within the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei cluster, and a Class I international aviation port as well as a "key transportation node in China's national Belt and Road Initiative," as the company reported.
Strategically positioned, it aims to support China’s Belt and Road Initiative by strengthening air connectivity between eastern and western regions and linking domestic routes with international destinations. "This young and dynamic airport is not only Hohhot's new gateway but also a crucial hub connecting China to the world," stated the airport in a press release.
