Smart ULDs underpin Riyadh Air’s launch
Riyadh Air has signed a strategic partnership with Unilode to supply, manage and repair its unit load devices (ULDs) ahead of the airline’s launch later in 2025. The agreement introduces lightweight containers and pallets fitted with bluetooth tags, connected to Unilode’s reader network for real-time tracking, stock optimisation and condition monitoring, cutting losses, mishandling and fuel burn. Unilode will provide full-service ULD management and access to its global MRO network to ensure asset availability as operations scale.
"Our partnership with Unilode is about building trust, reducing our environmental footprint and delivering a premium experience," said Riyadh Air CFO Adam Boukadida (right, shaking hands with Unilode CEO Ross Marino).
The deal supports the carrier’s 'Vision 2030' goals: a fleet growing beyond 180 aircraft, service to more than 100 destinations and contributions to jobs and non-oil GDP as the network expands across passenger and cargo. (ah)
