Solar fuel partnership

Kuehne+Nagel and Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) have strengthened their strategic partnership to support the market introduction of synthetic aviation fuels and advance more sustainable airfreight operations. The collaboration is formalised through a memorandum of understanding focusing on efficiency gains and emissions reduction across aviation logistics as Kuehne+Nagel reported.

A element of the agreement is a long-term offtake commitment for sustainable aviation fuel produced by Swiss cleantech company Synhelion. The synthetic fuel is generated using solar. The arrangement aims to provide planning security for Synhelion. From 2027, Kuehne+Nagel will purchase Synhelion-produced SAF from SWISS under a five-year agreement for cargo shipments by Swiss WorldCargo. "To meet the aviation industry’s climate targets, we must scale the production of synthetic SAF," stated  Yngve Ruud, Member of the Management Board responsible for Air Logistics.
